Strawberry Mountain Natural Beef was founded in 2005 in John Day, Grant County, Oregon, by Darrel Holliday a lifelong Grant County rancher. The goal was to bring together a growing community of local ranchers committed to sustainable agricultural practices, and to provide a superior beef product to consumers. All ranchers that provide cattle for our program must sign producer affidavits confirming their cattle program meets all requirements of the Strawberry Mountain Natural Beef protocol; All Natural, No Antibiotics, No Hormones, All Vegetarian Feed, Humanely raised on environmentally sustainable ranches.

Our beef is dry aged, and minimally processed, which gives it a distinct and rich flavor, along with tenderness, that cannot be matched by normal standards. The dry aging process is not new to the beef industry. Dry aging is the traditional process of placing an entire carcass in a refrigerated room, and allowing enzymes in the meat to naturally breakdown the proteins in the muscle, resulting in improved tenderness and flavor. Cattle that are only grass fed, grain finished and minimally processed lend to our superior product that tastes better and is better for you.
